I am working on a permanent OD Consultant role for a global retail organisation. My client operates on an impressive global scale, with c30,000 employees across 30 countries.

Over the last couple of years, they created a dedicated and specialist Organisational Design team. The purpose of this function is to work on structure and process efficiencies across the company, as well as new business, process mapping, workflows and so forth. They are now recruiting for an OD Consultant to join the team who would report into the Group Head of OD & Talent. It sounds like a fantastic time to be joining as they have lots on the agenda both presently and for the upcoming future. The remit of this role is UK and international and will involve some travel (approx. 6 trips annual). A big focus for next year shall be working on new international operating models in Spain and the US so these will be two specific locations this individual will be travelling to.

The individual for this role needs to be experienced in Organisational development, working on change/transformational HR programs. My client would also consider someone from a generalist HR background but who has extensive experience and knowledge in the above fields which needs to be identifiable and fully explained as part of their CV/application. They will also very much consider someone working for a consulting firm who is looking to move in-house who has worked on various OD/Change Transformation portfolios.

This role requires someone highly competent with Excel and who can analyse large volumes of data and MI. They need to have an analytical mindset, comfortable with spreadsheets and have a good understanding of cost / commercial acumen. Whilst the Group Head of OD is not looking for a fully-fledged OD expert, he wants someone who is hungry to learn and progress in this field, someone he can help develop. This requires someone who is wanting to work hard, comfortable with pace and pressure and someone who is willing to throw themselves at the job.

The role will involve a lot of stakeholder management, with regular communication with the CEO and SLT. They operate within a relatively flat structure and so there is good visibility across the company at all levels. The incumbent will work closely with the international HR teams, international finance teams, Group HR and Reward.

They are open to industry but it is important for this individual to have worked in a fast paced, pressurised environment. It goes without saying that they need to be comfortable with change and a level of ambiguity. This individual needs to be a self-starter and comfortable working both independently for periods of time but also part of a team.
